Old Site About The Ashgrove

So I found this site about the Ashgrove that looks like it's from a long time ago.

It has a bunch of really great pictures, like this one of the Ashgrove building right after it was built in 1910:

It also has pictures of the twin daughters who built the building, and their coal magnate dad:














These two sisters apparently built the Ashgrove building after their died killed himself by throwing himself in front of an IRT subway train.

Lots of weird scary happenings around this building. Kind of gives me the creeps when I walk by now . . .

Is the Ashgrove Haunted?

I was looking around Wikipedia last night and I came across this article in the haunted places section about an apartment building in New York City called the Ashgrove.

Apparently it looks just like a big luxury apartment building from the outside, but there have been many strange incidents that have occurred there over the past century since it was first built.

Some highlights:

April 14, 1910 - during the official unveiling of the building, one of the eight newly installed passenger elevators crashed, plunging its occupants to their death. The cause of the accident was never resolved.

August 4, 1937 - The main water-­‐tower situated on the southern roof terrace of The Ashgrove burst open and 100,000 gallons of water cascaded through the 03 line of apartments, drowning Walter and Hetty Hunt and their only daughter Charlene in apartment 1003.

July 17, 1976 - The bodies of Sarah and Granley Campbell were discovered in the badly charred remains of Apartment 703 following an unusual fire that appeared to have started in a closet in their bedroom.

May 3, 2009 - Four dogs belonging to the Occupants of Apartments 303, 503, 703, and 1103 disappeared during the night. There was no sign of any intrusion in any of the apartments.

Super weird right? I live right near this building and I'm going to keep looking for info about it and posting it to this blog.
